How We Operate
Wisdom is a guild for mature individuals. Maturity is not any particular age, it's a mindset. It's knowing the difference between what is appropriate in one place over another. It's knowing that the world does not revolve around you. Maturity is awareness, mixed with common sense. We only want individuals that put the good of the guild ahead of the good of themselves.
For years Wisdom has successfully operated under this principle. It's not going to change. What this means is that, aside from slips, and occasional outbursts, there is no real place for excessive foul language. We don't talk about bodily functions. We don't want to hear about your drinking binges. Save that for people that share that lifestyle with you. Don't assume everyone is like you. We're not judging you, we're merely reminding you that not everyone likes to hear about it. Again, common sense dictates where it should stop. Sure, you can bring it up, and mention it... but to go on a long-winded and detailed explanation about it is not appropriate.
Bottom line is, if you can't behave appropriately, find another guild.
Structure
There are two leaders, and no real officers. The officers are given their position to fill a role. The duties of an officer are quite simple. They are there to invite and dismiss people in the absence of the leaders.
The rule of law is simple as well. If someone gets out of hand (and if you don't know if you are, read the "How We Operate" section), the RULE is Remove first, ask questions later. Yes, that means if one becomes unruly, the protection of the guild morale is first and foremost. If one acts up, they will be removed immediately from the guild and given time to cool down, or, as is usually the case, choose to bless us with their permanent absence.
This may sound harsh. However, it has been our experience that people that become venemous are not impressed with reason. People that are mature will have read this page, and will understand the removal rules. That mature person will then cool down, and leave the venom at the door. I have ZERO tolerance for bad attitudes, and others that wish to bring morale down with negative diatribes.
Joining Our Team
Unlike other Guilds, Wisdom does not openly recruit. We don't just let anyone in.
In order to get into Wisdom you'll have to apply via this website and wait for your application to be reviewed. If our core members like you you will be invited to the guild for a trial period of no less than two weeks. Based on your attitude you may or may not become a full member. Let me restate that, it will be at least two weeks. It could be a month, or two months, but never less than two weeks.
Why such strict rules? Because, people have to be patient to serve a guild. They have to be able to go with the flow. They have to accept that not everything moves at their pace. They must accept the basic principle that the world does not revolve around them. We are very protective of our members, and to let even one bad egg in means we did not do our job. People slip by, it's true; but that will be few and far between.
We want people for the long-haul.
Style of Play
This is short and sweet: We do not use spoilers, ever. We figure out events on our own. The only spoilers we rely on are our own members' experiences. Period.
If you know "the trick" to an event because you read a spoiler -- keep it to yourself.
We do not use "mods" to raid. You're welcome to have one loaded, but if you rely on it to do your job, you will be found out. People that cannot play their class with the very basics are of no use to the guild. "Mods" often break with new patches, and some of them never get updated again. We're left with people who can't play because they've had a "mod" dictating their behavior to them. You should be able to play with our without it. This serves the guild best as we don't have downtime due to bugs, or changes in the WoW client.
